It's extra tender and moist, topped with a lusciously creamy vanilla frosting that gives the cake a little added sweetness! With crunchy walnuts for texture, Sunday's Texas Sheet Cake is just scrumptious! It's really as simple as that!

Ingredients

For the cake:

2 sticks butter cut into cubes
1 cup water
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

For the frosting:

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
1 cup walnuts chopped

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Coat a 10x15-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
In a large saucepan, add 2 sticks of the cubed butter and the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
Transfer the saucepan from the heat.
Add the flour, the granulated sugar, the eggs, the sour cream, 1 teaspoon of the vanilla bean paste, the salt, and the baking soda to the butter mixture and stir until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Bake until the cake is golden-brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 20-22 minutes.
Allow the cake to cool for 20 minutes.
In a saucepan over medium heat, add the remaining butter and the milk and cook, while stirring, until it comes to a low boil. Ensure the milk does not get scorched.
Transfer the saucepan from the heat.
Slowly add the powdered sugar and the remaining vanilla bean paste to the milk mixture and mix well to combine until smooth.
Spread the frosting over the warm cake.
Sprinkle the walnuts over the frosting.
Serve.
